The aim of our work is to provide a sympathetic, confidential, non judgemental support to young people and their families with the objective of enhancing the young person's future personal, social development and well being.
We provide a link between the family, school and professional services in both the Community & Voluntary and Stautory sectors.
The guiding principle that underpins all of our work is to place the young person at the centre of the decision making process with the aim of allowing them to take responsibility for their own choices and actions.
The Home youth liaison officers provide one to one guidance and support to young people in the school setting. Referrals for our school service can be made by the young person, parents, school and other relevant agencies.
The aim of the HYLO’s is to provide a safe space for young people to explore any concerns/ issues that they may have inside or outside of school. i.e mental health difficulties, relationships issues and school challenges.
We refer young people to other services for additional supports this includes i.e youth support, educational and training, Meitheal’s, counselling, recreational groups and addiction services.
In addition to the one to one support HYLO’s facilitate group programmes including peer mentoring training, primary to secondary school transfer programme, student council training, internet safety, anti-bullying program and more.
